Suzanne Gurland

Professor Gurland is hands down the best professor you can take at midd. The ambiance of the class is great. Her exams are a bit difficult, but she allowed us to have the equations for the material. We had readings, but you can get away with not doing them.

This class was extremely engaging and the professor was wonderful. There was a fair amount of reading, but you learn to skim and she usually covers a lot of it in lecture. Exams were somewhat challenging, but if you take the time to study the content by following along with readings and such, they are pretty straightforward and there were only two. There were also two essays, which were challenging and a bit long, but very interesting prompts. Overall it was a very fascinating class and I really enjoyed the content. The professor is also just super nice and tries to make class engaging and interesting. She also has history of working as a psychologist, so she talks a lot about her own clinical cases in class, which I thought was really cool.

Professor Gurland is very kind and accomodating, some lectures were boring but the course was mainly readings, papers, and projects. Requried for psych but a good elective to take, not too difficult but still interesting
