Suzanne Gurland

Gurland is a lovely person and great teacher - she really loves her stats and knows her stuff. Her exams are very difficult but she is very approachable and will help. The Labs are fairly easy and are good places to score. If you have prior knowledge of stat or a passion for it, you will be fine but if you don't I would say form a study group - it can get quite tricky to study alone. Her practice exams are decent. Overall, she was a pleasure to be taught by, she is very invested in her content and expects students to put in as much effort as she does (which is fair).

Psych Stats is not an interesting class, however, Prof Gurland tries her best to make the material interesting and is really enthusiastic. She is very accommodating to students' needs and is always thinking about her students. One thing I will mention is that the tests are surprisingly difficult, but she prepares you well, and if you do the practice exams in the textbook at the end of the chapter, you'll be fine for the exams.

Professor adds a lot of personal stories to the lecture material and stresses points that are important for the exams. Class is easy and there is barely ever homework. Projects are graded very fairly.
