Suzanne Gurland

Psych Disorders is a very interesting class, especially if you like psychology. Prof. Gurland is an amazing professor, but also a harsh grader. We had 2 papers in the class (one short and easy, the other was 10-14 pages). We also had discussion readings, and two exams. The exams were kinda difficult. The class is doable, the only thing is her grading is a little harsh.

I have really enjoyed this course with Prof. Gurland! We read about 1-2 chapters in the textbook/week, and then have lectures with engaging slideshows and a discussion section as well. We have 2 exams and 2 papers. Prof Gurland is accommodating and lets us pick the due date of our papers (within a date range). The content is very interesting, especially if you are interested in the clinical side of psychology or just want to explore this field! Each disorder is explored in great depth. If you enjoyed the disorders part of PSYC 0105, you will really appreciate this course, as it delves into all those disorders and more. Overall, Prof. Gurland is amazing and enthusiastic about what she is teaching, engages the class in both lectures and discussions, and keeps students wanting to learn more. I really have enjoyed this class and would highly recommend it!

This class was so interesting, Professor Gurland always used examples while applying the certain areas that we covered in class. She is so helpful if you feel like you need extra help, she is an open book
