Sunder Ramaswamy

Took this class with Ramaswamy and it was great. He is an incredible professor who is very skilled at lecturing. He is able to talk about interesting material from the readings and movies and connect all of them together to give the class a better understanding of Indian history. He is also super kind. There are weekly readings/movies, 5 assignments, and a final. The assignments tend to happen every second week and normally consists of writing a few essays (2-3 essays for a total word count of ~2500). The final is a choice between a ~3500 word essay, a ~12 minute video, or a website on any topic of your interest as long as it pertains to the what you have learned in this class and has an economic lens.

Professor Ramaswamy is probably one of the most knowledgable professors on campus. I really enjoyed learning about culture in the perspective of politics and economics and I would def take again. Only thing is that professor sometimes goes on talking and sometimes you zone out but generally it was a good class

If you're interested in politics and economics you should definitely take this class! Professor Ramaswamy is an amazing professor and has massive amounts of knowledge that he shares with the class. It's very interesting to hear his perspectives as a practising economist and broadens the perspective of all of us. We also gets to watch Bollywood movies which helps balance out the other assignments which are very very interesting but definitely not easy!
