Shinkyu (James) Lee
There are readings due every lecture, but Prof. Prakash and Lee explained them during the lecture, and you have a chance to ask questions about them during discussions. We had three short essays, a midterm exam, and a final project, as well as a few mini group projects for discussion. Prof. Lee is very entertaining and will challenge your views. You mostly learn how to read academic articles in a wide range of topics within IGS.

This course was very reading heavy, and it was often difficult to understand. That being said, material became much more clear after lectures and discussion. Being co-taught by Prof. Lee and Prof. Prakash added different perspectives. Big emphasis on critiquing authors arguments. Felt proud and fulfilled after completing the course.
The course involved two exams and about 2 essays (there are also optional essays for extra credit). The professor is very enthusiastic but the content can often feel open-ended and unclear. I would say take the course if the topic interests you.
