Shinkyu (James) Lee
This course was simply an overview of all the different paths and ways that someone can pursue with a background in IGS. It was very general, and there was a lot of readings, some of which you needed to know very thoroughly for the midterms (there were two take-home ones). If you have any interest at all in IGS, I recommend this course since it really shows you how you can apply your knowledge from this major. As for professor Lee, he always came to class with an enthusiastic mood and always tried to find ways to engage students which was refreshing. Professor Herb was the other professor for this course, and he was also enthusiastic about the topics discussed in class, especially with the maps. Their teaching styles were very different, and I would say I prefer Prof Herb's teaching a bit more than Prof Lee's.

It was a nice course, the readings were a bit dense and we had quite a bit of them. I also think that discussions really depend on the people in there. I think James Lee brought good energy to the course very animated or upbeat when talking about things. Very lecture, sit and watch type of class though.
Lee's class was by far my favorite class at Midd. He engages students by making them explain why they believe what they do about the readings. He is very enthusiastic, and his enthusiasm is contagious. The course itself was very interesting. The work is not that much.
