This class is required for my minor, and I really enjoyed Sasha Portice's teaching style. She is a very fast talker, which is intimidating coming out of yr 1 Russian, but she is always willing to repeat herself or rephrase to help you better understand. I really, really enjoyed this class.

Sasha is the best, and this class helps you prepare to be abroad. Need to write a lot for each class, but less homework than in previous Russian classes. The timing is very good, and Sasha is very accommodating and willing to change it around to fit people's schedules.

Russian 311/312 is where you begin to learn about Russian culture, history and art in Russian. Instead of primarily grammar work in class and worksheets or exercises as homework, there is a huge emphasis on speaking and writing on your own. We had weekly diaries we wrote in Russian, as well as two debates that were not easy. The exams and homework are chill. Portice is a great professor and awesome person to improve your Russian with. This course will improve all aspects of your Russian and make you feel confident about conversing on a wide range of topics.
