Sasha Portice

Sasha is extremely knowledgeable, understanding and competent in all the courses she teaches. This specific course does have a lot of readings however (up to 200 pages) and approx 250 word reflections, however, homework and exams were predictable and it was easy to get a good grade for those.

This course is extremely difficult due to the nature of the Russian Language. If your heart is not in learning Russian, this course is not for you. There is a ton of homework that needs to be handed in every single day, but overall, the value is good.

It was a really fun class. I've always wanted to get into russian lit and this class was a great way to expose myself to it. However, it is very fast paced and at times we would have only a day to read 100-200 pages. This is not to discourage anyone who wants to take the class, but it is a fair warning. Overall, Prof Portice is very accommodating and she understands the tediousness and complexity of readings she assigns you.
