Roman Graf
Taking GRMN0201 with Roman was a great experience. The classes were very relaxed, lighthearted, and often based on the discussion of readings assigned for homework. Grammatical worksheets were also thrown in to keep us on track of our grammar homework and make sure we knew the material. Roman was very accommodating when it came to any form of issues regarding with work, and was willing to clarify any form of question/uncertainty. He also was always engaged in the material and in a good mood, making it much easier to be involved in the class

I love Roman as a professor. This course had a lot of very difficult German reading, but he gave us resources to aid our comprehension and took the time to ensure all students understood the plot of each play we read. What was most difficult was understanding the dramatic theory of each playwright, and I wish his introduction to those materials had been more organized. I enjoyed the conversations we had as midterms and finals; the grading felt rigorous enough, but they were not as stressful as writing for an exam. The writing assignments were fun as well. They were short, but provided different angles from which to read the plays.

As a student who studied with both Bettina and Roman at the same time, I would say that Roman's class is much more discussion-based, whereas Bettina's has more worksheets and group work. Personally I prefer Roman's style, but they're both good classes and it's really a personal preference.
