Robert Moeller
I took this class with Professor Moeller, and he is a good professor, but he doesn't meet the student's needs. He lets go of your hand in this part of psychology and lets you do everything on your own. The class was very interested, and I learned so much material. I heard the other class with Seehuss was extremely easier to manage.
This course was one of the most courses I've taken at Middlebury! Ernie and Rob are hilarious in class and I looked forward to class every week. The homework is very helpful -- typically 1-2 pages of written reflection a week. The reflection on personal and professional goals, personal finance skills, and car skills were all invaluable lessons.
This class was a waste of my time. It did not count for any course distribution requirements and was basically a high school health class. We talked about ways to be successful students, which was somewhat helpful, but truly did not need to be an entire class. Kristy, the other teacher in the class (director of Res-life) is super kind and fun! But Professor Moeller is annoying and kind of condescending. Maybe he is a good psych instructor, I have no idea, but he was not great in this class. The papers we had to write were such a waste of time and the readings were all self-help books. While the things you learn about are important, this class is not really beneficial to take (especially as a freshman who doesn't understand what distribution requirements are and how this class gives you NONE!) Also 3 hours on a Friday is so draining and boring.
