Priscilla Bremser
MATH
Prof Bremser led this as an Inquiry Based course, meaning we showed up and worked through problems with our teams, then sometimes discussed as a class. This is a hands on class and very interesting material. Basic, then not. Unlike anything you’ve done before in math! No tests, grade is entirely based on HW (which she offers corrections for!). Low stakes fun class
Professor Bremser is a very nice and accomodating person, and she is extremely willing to help during office hours. Unfortunately, she is highly obsessed with the so called "Inquiry Based Learning", which is a fancy way to say that she never teaches in class and simply asks students to work on textbook problems in small groups. Admittedly, this teaching style has some benefits: almost every student can receive an A without effort, and it is convenient for her as the teacher. However, the content of this course should be best learned through "old-fashioned" lectures and monthly exams, and I felt that my understanding of Abstract Algebra was superficial after taking the course.

I really liked the teaching style that Bremser used. We spent most of class going over our homework assignments in groups, with some of the more challenging problems being done for us on the board. I felt that this really allowed me to understand what we were doing more than if it was a lecture based class. Homework was graded on completion/effort and all the exams were take home which allowed for a lower stress experience than some of my friends had.
