Nicolas Poppe
I had mixed feelings about this course. Poppe was enthusiastic about the material, and it was clear that this was something he was passionate about. However, at times it felt like there just wasn't enough content to have an entire undergraduate level course on Uruguayan film, and the class may have been more successful if it had picked a Latin American country with a more developed film industry. I liked that the class took a chronological approach and started at the beginning of film in Uruguay, but some classes it just felt like we didn't have much to discuss or would be repeating the same things. He also would take off points for things on homeworks and essays, but not leave comments about what was wrong, which was confusing and at times felt unfair.

This class was very helpful for improving more niche areas of Spanish language skills. The class was structured to be suitable for all skill levels of Spanish and to address the most common mistakes made in the Spanish language by native English speakers. This class was very helpful and makes a great addition to other Spanish course content.
This class is super chill, Poppe is a beast. Readings overall are not long, although some of them could be boring. Just do them and come to class and share ideas. Exams are all take home essays which are graded somewhat strictly but its chill.
