Mike Dash
PSYC
This class is an absolute gem. Not only is the material incredibly interesting but Professor Dash is an incredible lecturer which makes class fun. You get out what you put into this class and if I had the chance to take it again, I would.
I took this course because I'm a psych and neuro major, and also because I've previously taken a course with Professor Dash and really enjoyed his teaching style. Professor Dash's enthusiasm is really unmatched, and the course materials consist of an extremely wide variety of readings and videos. What this class is discussing, fundamentally, is consciousness and how our brain changes, which is already a fascinating topic, and the richness of knowledge is only elevated by Professor Dash's teaching. He is always willing to engage in in-class discussions with students and makes an effort to answer every question raised in class, although sometimes that means delaying the progress of the planned lectures, which is one minor problem, if it can be described as one, of the class. But overall I really enjoyed the class and talking with Professor Dash, and I'd definitely recommend it.

I'll preface by saying the Mike Dash is a great guy. However... I very much disliked his teaching style. His lectures were all over the place, and his slides were very messy. It was difficult to review material because the slides were frankly incomprehensible. The tests were even worse. The questions were jumbled and unclear, and it felt like points were removed simply because I didn't understand what the question was asking. My grade was suffering even if I understood the course material itself. Whenever I emailed him to set up a time to ask questions, he would take an incredibly long time to respond (if he'd even respond at all). Overall, I would not recommend this course, especially if you have a strong background in Psych or Neuro. I don't feel like I learned anything new, and I ultimately did not have an enjoyable experience.
