This course covered the inequalities in the public education system today. We covered a lot of different authors and readings, which we then applied to presentations on our personal stories. The assessments became more focused on our application of the ideas through multiple quizzes and essays, and we also had an in-class writing assignment for the final.
The content is so eye-opening, as it makes you realize how different everyone's education is compared to your own. We talked about the early ideologies of what education was supposed to be and what it looks like now. There are a lot of readings assigned for the week, but as long as you skim them and get enough of the gist, you can participate in class. The professor is clearly passionate about this topic, and you can tell she's invested in getting you to see how the education system has changed and its impact on its students.

This class was a great introduction to the education system in the US, and Professor Hammerlee is such a passionate and accommodating teacher. There were readings every night, and 2 essays, and a presentation, but overall, a very relaxed class.
