I had never taken a stats or data science course before, and this course does require some knowledge of stats/data science background. Professor Meaghan was a kind and understanding person when it came to extensions and work. Her lectures were fast-paced, and you will generally have few questions and reading to do outside of class. This course is very project-based; it includes graphs and interpretations of where you have to fully explain what you did to gather your information.

As someone with no experience in stats, data science, or coding, this class was extremely fast-paced and pretty difficult. She always repeats that she doesn't want us to worry about grades, but it is hard to when project averages are in the C - B range. In general she is kind and very enthusiastic about stats but not necessarily a good teacher. (Office hours were always packed)

First off, the professor is very sweet and it is clear that she prioritizes our learning above all else. Though there is a lot of reading (and quizzes on these readings almost every class) and the projects can be graded very harshly, she tries to give us opportunities to fix our grades if she sees we are stressed or if the class averages are very low. She also helps by posting the notes/activities after class as well as review guides to help with projects/exams. I think the hardest part of the class is the beginning, when learning how to code and learning how to express the ideas learned in class. But, because of her accommodation, she makes it very easy to improve as the class goes on.
