McLean Macionis

Professor McLean is a very fun professor! He is also very understanding and will know everyone's name by day 2. While we have a quiz every week on the class lectures, there is little to no reading. You will have time consuming projects but Professor McLean is always there to help and keeps you accountable.

McLean is my favorite professor at Middlebury; although I don't plan on majoring or minoring in music I have a strong personal interest in music and this class was a fun way of learning more about music production and mixing. Highly recommend, super chill and fun.

As somebody who enjoys songwriting but always had difficulty with the technological aspects of recording my music, this course was really helpful in making music recording more intuitive. Learning how to use a DAW on your own can be very tedious, but McLean is extremely knowledgable and receptive to any question which makes the learning process smooth. Assignments are easy, consisting of your own compositions and listening responses, but he will not hesitate to dock marks for something turned in late.
