Prof Brumback is beyond passionate about this class. She does a great job explaining everything; her lectures are well-organized and easy to follow. She communicates expectations very well; her practice problems for exams are in EXACT the same format as the exams. She does a great job encouraging students to ask questions in both lab and lecture. If you are confused, she will break down and go through the problem and the logic with you (with assignments, labs, lecture content, etc). Her demos are always interesting, and she is incredibly responsive to email and understanding throughout the semester. She is a great human, and as someone who is taking this class for premed, she does a great job making it feel much more approachable!

I am a humanities student. I took this course for my STEM credit. I recommend this course for anyone looking to do the same. The layout is pretty straightforward: two lectures a week (attendance isn't really necessary, but very very useful for the homeworks), take-home quizzes every other week (they take an hour and are the same as homework questions from the last two weeks), labs (3 hours was kind of annoying, but they are doable and you get a partner), and a final exam (honestly kind of tough - I studied for a day and a night and I did pretty well). Prof. Brumback is great. She is always willing to help out in lab and has very clear, built-in accommodations (we are offered a free, one-week extension on a homework). She has a good sense of humor and is super approachable. I highly recommend for fellow books and paper students looking for either a SCI or a DED.

Professor Brumback is very kind and clear in her teaching. She acommodates students needs and presents the material in a way that is accessible and interesting. I found this class to be very exciting and the material covered very approachable for studnets with no prior science/Physics background
