Markus Gerke

Markus is a great prof who loves the subject that he teaches. The class itself is super chill and enjoyable. Weekly discussion posts for the class however he gives two diffrent topics and you get to pick which one you submit. A main factor of your grade comes from the final project which is half a group project and half individual. Overall, show up, pay attention, and put some effort into the final project and you should walk away with an A in the class and a great experience.

The class was a good introduction to what sociology classes are like at Middlebury. While there was a decent amount of reading, I found them to be interesting and usually not too jarring to read. Also, Mr. Gerke is a great professor who is passionate about the subject which made learning in that class much more enjoyable.

The content of this course is a little repetitive, but it does make for one to really understand the takeaways. Professors Gerke is also a very nice and accommodating person, which made the class more enjoyable despite the content.
