Margaret Hanson
I took this class last spring and overall had a great experience. Although we did not have a discussion section, Professor Hanson made sure that discussion was a major factor of class. I think her policies on participation and AI use are quite strict, these are subject to change though. We had lots of reading, reading quizzes during each class (they were pretty manageable), two papers, a debate, and a final paper defense. The content of the class was very fascinating and I would recommend this course to anyone interested in politics in general.

Really interesting course- a lot of the theoretical framework is established very early on in the course programming which allows for engaging discussions as the semester progresses. There is a lot of reading and one major assignment, but otherwise the work load feels pretty manageable. I really enjoy Professor Hanson and am happy to have taken a class with her.
I found Professor Hanson's teaching of this course to be exceptional. The class was always interesting and gave a very good overview of Comparative Politics. As someone intending to be a PoliSci major, this was an excellent first course to take. I appreciated how we analyzed all parts of the world equally and how our individual case studies allowed us to compare what was happening in the world with our country of focus. Professor Hanson was always incredibly welcoming and open during office hours and gave engaging, interesting lectures.
