This class is a total head-trip because the professor is obsessed with proving that our "rational" moral choices are actually just gut reactions we try to justify after the fact. It’s wild—they’ll throw out these cringy, taboo scenarios just to show us that we’re basically lawyers for our own emotions rather than logical judges. You walk out of every lecture realizing your brain is just a bundle of evolutionary biases, and it makes you look at every political argument or social media feud in a completely different way.

Professor Besser is really kind and passionate about the topics she teaches, some of the concepts of this class are hard to grasp but professor Besser always spends enough time of each argument analysing them under different lights to make sure everyone understood, which might at times make the course seem to be extremely slow paced. But she doesn't share the slides.
The course was extremely interesting as my first philosophy course at Midd, however the lecture style classes were hard to get through sometimes. Especially when the nature of this philosophy is very interesting I wish we had more time to discuss some of the concepts with each other and understand them in our own words. There are also very few components of your grade, so it can be scary getting 3/4 of the way through the semester with only 1 test graded...
