Professor Repka is a very kind and approachable instructor who clearly cares about her students. She's always willing to help and is respectful and encouraging in class. However, if you're someone who relies heavily on lectures to understand material, this course may be challenging. The lectures are not very detailed, so you’ll likely find yourself doing most of the learning on your own outside of class. The SmartWork assignments can be time-consuming and sometimes feel disconnected from what’s covered in class. To succeed, you’ll need to be self-motivated and proactive in studying the textbook, reviewing practice problems, and seeking out extra help when needed. Overall, she creates a positive classroom environment, but be prepared to put in a lot of independent effort to truly grasp the content.

This course was your typical, difficult orgo course. I personally felt like Prof. Repka didn't always teach effectively, and she included questions on exams that I felt we had never seen before. Overall, it's a necessary evil, but taking it with Repka is a solid choice. Labs were fantastic, however.

Honestly, it wasn't that bad. I was really scared going into this course, but Lindsay Repka is by far the kindest professor I have ever encountered. Her lectures were a bit confusing at first, but she does have a very predictable (positive connotation) format: review the very short, multiple choice review assignment from the night before, then go over the content for the day. She is even organized in the way that she splits the chalkboard during the lecture. She teaches by showing general concepts, and then examples of their application, which was always super productive for me. In terms of assignments, it was kind of a cake walk. We had JiTT, which is a google form that is filled out before each lecture. That is the very short multiple choice assignment I mentioned earlier. Then there's SmartWork, which is due weekly and typically has 8-12 questions that give active feedback and can be redone for partial credit. She does bi-weekly problem sets which are challenging, but if you go to the TA hours you basically get spoon-fed answers and great explanations. Plus, time spent on the problem set is time spent studying for the exam. Her exam format is identical and questions similar to the problem set. This semester, she did take home exams which was nice. The final is in person though. Lab was also easy and fun. Overall, super chill and good. Would highly recommend taking this hard course with her because she makes it very doable.
