Lana Povitz
As a survey course, it definitely felt rushed at times, but Professor Povitz provided the class with interesting readings that felt applicable to in-class lecture. She places great emphasis on in-class discussion, whether that is speaking in front of the class or within small groups, and it definitely made for an engaging class period. Overall, Professor Povitz is one of my favorite professors at the college and dabbles in many areas of history, but it's clear that she is passionate about this course in particular! She is also a wonderful professor to talk to during office hours about class materials and is helpful in clarifying assignments expectations.

This course was super interesting, and Lana was super engaging in her teaching style. There was a significant amount of reading for this course, though the first week was particularly heavy in order to weed out students not committed to the amount of reading.
Lana is a super kind professor who has a lot of love for what she teaches. She is super understanding and appreciates engagement and community bonding from a class. Assignments were commonly group based and very low stakes.
