Kristina Sargent

The class is pretty hard and the exams are very difficult but Professor Sargent gives corrections that make everything okay. The homework is graded very easily, along with the final presentation, the grading is easy which makes up for the fact as I mentioned earlier the exam are hard. She is energetic and loves teaching the material and is very approachable with questions, making the class enjoyable for some parts.

While I've enjoyed this class and the material has been incredibly insightful and interesting, I would not consider myself a fan of the way that It has been taught this semester, while I do believe Sargent to be a competent and effective teacher, her statement that "she had not taught this class in eight years" became apparent early on. Class usually consists of the professor just writing her notes on the board with slight explanation, and then questions from the crowd based on holes in our knowledge. The only semblance of depth I feel we receive in her teaching is the asides she goes on when she talks about the Fed and whatnot

This course is definitely challenging but super interesting. As an IP&E major who leans more toward IP, I enjoyed this class much more than other required economics classes. I really feel that what I learned in this class is real world applicable and has helped me understand political/economic situations in the news better.
