Kristina Sargent
I think the class was super tough. The material was interesting, and definitely required going into the textbook and grappling with the concepts in order to do well. Weekly homework was overly long, and the exams were unnecessarily difficult. The good thing, however, is that Sargent offers exam corrections.
Professor Sargent is one of the best professors I've had at Middlebury. She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Macro econ. The class is entirely lecture based, but it is always encouraged that we stop to ask questions and she always makes sure that students understand the lecture. The content is somewhat complex but as a required course for the econ major, I strongly recommend if you take it, to take it with Sargent as that who I feel will best help you actually learn the material. The class has two midterms and 6 problem sets with a final. The problem sets are a bit difficult but the TAs and her office hours are extremely helpful and the content is very similar to the exams. The exams however, are extremely difficult and graded harshly. However, Sargent allows you to do corrections to get sometimes up to 50% of lost points so it ends up being ok. Overall, Sargent is a wonderful person and professor who cares about the success of her students and I highly recommend taking the course.

As a freshman who qualified out of the intro economics classes I was very lucky to have Sargent as a professor. The office hours are extremely helpful as well as the peer tutors. All exams have test corrections for at least half points back and final has a curve.
