Kristina Sargent

This course was definitely difficult and the exams were tough but if you truly grasp the material, you should perform well with test corrections. She really cares about the material that she teaches us and has a lot of enthusiasm about the course. She is also always available to help during office hours and is around to schedule an appointment.

I really liked Sargent as a person and I did well with her lecture style but her tests are so, so hard. She doesn't ask questions about the stuff we focused on the most in class, and instead makes questions worth tons of points on stuff we only briefly covered or learned in the first few days of material. She does offer revisions but never gives full credit back which is frustrating because you have to completely redo the exam and her homework is so time consuming for something that is worth 10% of your grade. Also, exams are worth 70% so it is almost guaranteed to break your GPA which is super upsetting.

Macro Theory with Professor Sargent is a grind. She herself seems like a nice person who cares about her students and their learning however her exams are near impossible. This is counteracted by the ability to do revisions to get points back however there is no getting away from the fact that the exams themselves are a challenge. The class is definitely a grind but if you need it for a major and can commit the time to studying and attending office hours it's doable.
