Prepare to do badly on both midterms as the class average was around a 50% for each exam, Sargent does allow you to make some of your points back which is good. The problem sets are challenging and don't prepare you much for the exams, but you can drop your lowest one. The projects were super interesting for this class and she is super helpful in office hours for some people.

It's a hard class but Sargent is a great professor. You learn a lot in the class which makes the difficulty of the class worth it. There are so many real world applications of the material and Sargent does a good job connecting the material with current events. She is an extremely hard grader, but she is very generous with test corrections on exams. Overall, if you do the problem sets and go to office hours, you will do fine in the course. I recommend taking it, macro theory with Sargent has been on of my favorite economics classes I've taken.

Professor Sargent was very experienced in her study of macro theory, but the work seemed endless. The tests were graded harshly, but she allowed corrections to make up for 50% of the lost grade on the first try. Do not take this course if you struggle with calculus because many of the situations discussed are theoretical and solved with calc-based solutions
