I loved this course. I am a Con Bio major and this course fit all of my interests. Some of the information is definitely repeat from EcoEvo but the lab is incredibly interesting and I definitely feel like I solidified a lot of my environmental knowledge. There are 3 exams throughout the semester, 3 presentations, and 3 lab reports, but all are graded incredibly easy and you have a lot of opportunity to make up missed points on exams. There are readings for every class but usually pretty engaging and easy, and you go over them in class so if you don't get to them it's not a huge issue. Overall made me excited to take another course with Coe in the fall.

I really liked Professor Coe and her teaching style. You are expected to do short textbook readings before each class and it helps to read before hand, but you can also get caught up pretty quickly in class. Exams are very fair with little to no term memorization. The labs were my favorite part of the class, and being outside identifying plants was so fun

Course included weekly chapter reading with short questions and discussion posts that was discussed on first class of the week. Partner work and worksheets were used to compliment lecture and discussions. First class of the week was also used for quick myth debunk presentations completed individually. Second class of the week was finishing the previous lecture and a group of student led a case study presentation/discussion. Second class of the week was occasionally used for in class paper exams. There were two exams during the semester and one take home exam for finals and are not necessarily cumulative. Given the opportunity to revise exams using notes on own time. R Studio was used during labs to complete individual projects. There were two short lab reports based on those projects. First couple of labs were used to learn R Studio. Other labs were used to complete individual projects using R Studio. There is one final lab project of your choosing that you present and complete a report at the end of the semester. Coe uses Teams instead of Canvas and is pretty easy to reach. You can get a good grade as long as you show up to class since attendance is required but does not count towards grade and complete the work on time.
