Kai Zhang

I think overall the class was very effective and has helped me really advance in chinese. The class overall was a lot of work but overall the class was manageable and enjoyable. There were also a lot of non-academic related activities as well.

Zhang is a pretty nice guy, and his grading reflects that. While the daily quizzes and homework can be a lot of work, it's doable and again: not a terribly hard grader. He can struggle to get some points across quickly, but you learn everything eventually.

Zhang might be the most enthusiastic and nicest Chinese teacher at Middlebury. The class has a quiz almost every day, but if you are doing the readings they are pretty easy and there are a lot of chances to bump your grade. While I was taking the class I didn't see it as very useful, but as I've continued in my Chinese education the skills and concepts I have been very grateful for the skills and concepts I picked up in this class.
