Julien Weber
As French classes go, this one wasn't too bad. I took it before going abroad and it was helpful I think to have an easier / more digestible set of readings than some previous higher-level courses. Would recommend
This course is designed in a way that the readings are necessary for discussions in class and weekly homework outside. The essays always give an option for many prompts tailored to what you would like and Professor Weber is always very accommodating.
Professor Weber’s French course was a mix of accessible assignments and challenging discussions. While the workload was relatively easy, some of the class discussions tended to be abstract and difficult to follow. It often felt like the concepts discussed in class were more theoretical than practical, which made it hard to connect the material to everyday language use. Despite this, the grading was fair, and the overall expectations were manageable. If you enjoy theoretical language studies, this class might be for you, but be prepared for some abstract discussions.
