Julien Weber

As a total beginner in French, I really think Julien has provided great support. He is the kind of professor who can remember your name and birthday from the first class, which I find very necessary for beginners like me. Often when I find myself struggling in homework and quizzes, he would always be very patient in guiding me during office hours and after class (he voluntarily reach out to me at least three times through email or paper). He has his own strategy of teaching, and he really believes in it. For instance, he really value punctuality for his classes, and he will also repetitively recommend using flash cards to learn conjugation and vocabulary (a bit annoying too sometimes). I think he devoted a lot of his time to prepare for our materials & content and he attends almost all the activities in the French Department (though he might leave very quickly afterwards). All in all, I think he is a teacher who has passion in teaching and have love for students in general. Really recommend.

This is a time-consuming class, and I spend a lot of time writing my homework. There are many exams as well, so be ready to do a lot of preparation and homework. However, the professor is very nice and understanding

Professor Weber is awesome, all the homework for the entire semester is scheduled from the first day of class and each class covers the homework from the night before. The work itself isn't super hard but there's kinda a lot and it never stops. There's a requirement to go to language tables every week and 3 culture events at the French house which I enjoyed. There's 8 tests so each one isn't super impactful which takes some stress off.
