This ASL course has been overwhelmingly frustrating and, honestly, the worst J-term I’ve ever taken. The volume of assignments, quizzes, and required videos is extremely high for such a short term, leaving very little time to actually absorb, practice, and memorize the material in a meaningful way. Instead of supporting language learning, the pace feels rushed and stressful, making it difficult to retain signs or build confidence in comprehension. While I understand that J-term courses are intensive by nature, this class prioritizes constant assessment over learning, which has made the experience more exhausting than educational.

As someone who has struggled with language classes in the past, this class was so chill. This class was a perfect amount of work and I learned a lot. You do have to memorize a lot of signs, but it was so much fun I didnt mind.
This class was one of my favorites! The professor is from UVM and so sweet. We had in person classes only a few times throughout the entire j-term but a lot of it was zooms or online work that was auto-graded. The homework isn't necessarily hard but there is a lot of it for sure. It was super interesting to learn and recommend to anyone considering!
