Professor Teets is very knowledgeable in topics related to China and has lived experience there as well, and I would say her views are very up-to-date and fair. She expects a very high level of complexity in your papers and presentations as well as a multifaceted understanding of facts and nuanced analysis, which I think is sometimes a bit difficult for students who are less familiar with the conditions in Chinese society. Much less so if you have a good idea, though. Overall she reviews a good variety of topics when it comes to contemporary Chinese politics and she is extremely qualified to teach this course. I thoroughly enjoyed taking this class with her.

Professor Teets is enthusiastic about this subject and it makes the class interesting. I really enjoyed this class. We would typically get readings for homework and then have a lecture and group presentation on it the following day. We never really discussed the readings, so it was unclear how many students actually did them

Teets was a good professor and taught this class well. I enjoyed the way the class was constructed as it was very connected to the real world and we were able to interview and talk to many people as well as create a formal report using the qualitative methods we were taught. It was not difficult but required some time outside of class to organize meetings with your group and zoom call interviews.
