Jennifer Strtak
I loved the way Professor Strtak engaged with the material, particularly how she pivoted between two different topics during lecture. She was always engaging and demonstrated a passion for the material in students.
Prof Strtak is so fantastic. she's clearly very knowledgable about the time period and is an interesting discussion leader. This whole course was in the discussion format so it was a very cool way to learn the information.
Early Modern European Civilization was a solid course that covered a broad range of topics over a huge time period (10th-17th century). Her lectures were very well thought out and rehearsed, allowing students to take in a large amount of information easily. The discussion sections were less organized, and you could get away with not doing the homework for the whole course. Granted, the homeworks were quite short, and their content was either covered in the lecture or irrelevant for the Final Exam. The papers she assigns are quite short, but she expects people to conform to her writing style, and she can be quite picky. If you attend office hours, you will get a better grade. So, most weeks are work-light, but the weeks with a paper can be much more strenuous.
