James Fitzsimmons is the actual goat. Classes are essentially all lecture, except for a few where we do activities like spear throwing or role playing games. The maya is Fitzsimmons's wheelhouse so the course is very in depth and he can answer any question that you come up with. Highly entertaining and enjoyable. Take any class you can with him

Prof Fitz is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about this class. He is very understanding and genuinely cares about his students. The class is interesting, and we discussed a lot about history and ethics in archaeology, especially in relation to burials and how we can somtimes forget we are dealing with humans.

Death and the Body is the most rewarding lesson I have taken in my first semester, and it definately changed the way I look at anthropology deeply. Professor Fitzsimmons is a great professor to learn from as he is someone who cares deeply about what he is teaching and how to make the discipline a better place. The readings can be a little much, but manageable overall, and definately fun to do. There are three paper throughout the term and one midterm, but I think it's not too hard overall as long as you take the effort to do the readings. I would definately take more class with professor Fitzsimmons and would love to take anthropology as a minor in the future.
