James Fitzsimmons
James is super nice and super passionate! The main assessments are papers which are not too challenging. Its a super interesting course, sometimes his teaching is a little all over the place but he is super creative and the course is lots of fun!
There were like 150 pages of textbook readings a week. I did none of them. Most all the info you need for the 2 exams (midterm and final) are taught in lecture and he gives you the essay prompts ahead of time so you can scour the textbooks and prepare. 3 essays throughout the semester that were 3 pages each, so also a textbook situation for those. But other than that, just lectures and some fun lab activities (looking at pottery and bones, throwing spears). Fitzsimmons is super enthusiastic about the material and is a kind grader and human.

Intro to Archaeology with Professor Fitzsimmons is a really fun, informative class. There are only 3 3-page response papers throughout the semester, which are great opportunities to explore and take risks as they are very lightly weighted. There is also a midterm and a final, which are weighted more heavily and a little stressful because of that, but if you study, you'll be fine. Most people did not do the reading, and other than the papers, there was not really any work outside of class.
