Isabelle Langrock

I took this class because it fit into my schedule and looked somewhat interesting and not too difficult; it pretty much was exactly that. This is an R-based class, but it is very introductory and is a good choice if you are new to R and anticipate that you will be using it more later on. This is a very project-based class, and it culminated in a really cool project about our own habits online, which I did about my Spotify. We did a cool presentation event at the end. The professor was very fair with the workload and grading and really transparent with us (it was her first semester).

This class isn't as bad as it sounds; honestly, this class would be so much easier if you really know R. But besides that, there is a presentation each week; you only need to sign up for 2, in-class labs on Thursdays, biweekly problem sets, and weekly labs. Prof. is not the best at facilitating conversation and can sometimes feel a bit boring, but over shes a nice and accommodating person. The class itself was interesting and was fun to see the networks in R. You have one final where you use everything you learned from the semester and make your own final webpage about a network of your choosing.

Isabelle was an amazing professor. She taught a class of ~25 students with great enthusiasm and knowledge. I would definitely take this class again because of the great content I learned. If you like doing group work and discussion based teaching, this class is the one for you.
