MATH
Very project heavy. Sometimes the reports due date would overlap but enough time was given for each report. Classroom environment was a bit intimidating to ask questions, but prof is always available for office hours. This course was also more coding than I was prepared for so a lot of my studying wasn't necessarily for statistics but to understand how to code.
This was a manageable class that has applicable concepts if you are a mathematics or statistics major. The content was generally not too conceptually challenging. I highly recommend if you think you might be interested in stats.
Super useful class, definitely challenging at times, but worth it. It’s one of those courses that really changes the way you think about data and economics. You cover a lot — probability, distributions, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and eventually simple regression. It starts off pretty math-heavy, but once you understand what the numbers actually mean, everything starts to click. The class teaches you how to make sense of real data instead of just memorizing formulas. You learn how to test economic ideas, read graphs more critically, and see patterns that aren’t always obvious. If you plan on taking Econometrics later, this course gives you the foundation you need. Workload: The pace can be fast, and the problem sets take time — especially early on when you’re still getting used to statistical thinking. But once you get into a rhythm, it becomes manageable. The key is to keep up weekly and not cram right before exams.
