Eliza Garrison
Garrison assigns lots of reading but for the most part it is fairly interesting. Class get slightly tedious towards the end of the semester as you are discussing the same tapestry the entire semester. Great professor, clearly cares and gives ~3 papers.
I took this class because I wanted a first-year advisor who was knowledgeable about the school, and Garrison offered exceptional advising in my course selection process. This class definitely prepared me for college writing, and it involves more writing and reading than the other Feb FYS. There were three 6 page papers distributed throughout the semester, and she hands the assignments out a month in advance, so there was rarely a time where I didn't have a paper to be working on, but I also was able to spread out my writing process over several weeks. She is very available and eager to meet one-on-one as a general advisor or for the class. She is very passionate about the Bayeux tapestry, but unfortunately, I struggled to feel engaged with the subject because I'm not particularly interested in medieval art history.

This course was definitely rigorous with a lot of dense reading but I thought all the information was really interesting and valuable. Eliza Garrison is a great teacher and I had an overall great experience in this class.
