Eliza Garrison
I came into this class initially to satisfy the EUR distribution and was somewhat intimidated by the syllabus and heavy history-based content, but I walked out with such a strong interest for art history and ultimately decided to major in art history-museum studies. Professor Garrison is funny and witty in class, gives out very chill "write me one paragraph about the reading on your chosen prompt from a total of 6" quizzes and is very accommodating if you need an extension. She does not grade papers in the sense of giving out easy As, but she is always willing to help at any point during your writing process. A substancial amount of reading does need to be completed before each class, but she makes sure to pick out very engaging academic papers that are not too hard or painful to read or follow.

As someone who took this course for the sole reason of trying something new, I soon found it to be my favorite course of the semester! Professor Garrison was incredibly engaging and taught the material in a super approachable way, which I appreciated as someone with no HARC experience. There are a couple of hefty readings due every class, which can become slightly overwhelming, but the material itself is usually pretty interesting, and overall, it could be a lot worse. I would love to take another class with Prof Garrison after this.

I loved this class because it was so interesting to see what was going on artistically on a global scale and also the way countries influenced each other. I loved Garrison, she is super clear and enthusiastic and the quizzes and essays were manageable.
