If you like lectures, then you will like this class. Professor Vazquez is highly knowledgeable on the subject. Grading is structured around a three written essays and two exams. As long as you are willing to memorize information from slides (he provides a study sheet) you will do fine

This class has no prerequisites, but the instructor definitely does. I am not a HARC major and this was the first class I had taken in the discipline, so I often found myself not living up to the expected knowledge base often expected in discussions and essays. The course has a ton of reading and writing, but it is a CW class so that is as expected. Professor Vazquez is a nice guy, and is very smart, but this meant I was often left confused after lectures and readings because of the overly academic nature of his vocabulary. Despite all that, I still enjoyed the class and felt like I learned a lot! Also, the research project is fun!

Personally, I really liked the course. The readings, artworks, and artists were all interesting, but Professor Vazquez's language gets in the way of his lecturing. It was a bit hard to follow what was being said. However, it's not that important since there's no exams or anything. The course was labor based grading and entailed posting to the discussion board on time. Would recommend the class if you're interested in conceptual art and can turn stuff in on time.
