David Torres
Great at office hours, terrible at lecturers: On the first day, I remember professor Torres saying, "I don't like to lecture in the traditional sense, I enjoy class to be more of a discussion." This has not been the case. Torres is clearly very passionate about the subject and he is a deeply caring person; however, his lectures are slow and he often speaks as if every word he says is the most important word that you have ever heard. This lecture style combined with the lack of slide presentations makes it very difficult to stay focused and engaged in class. On the essays and projects, there is no clear rubric and it is difficult to fully know what he is looking for. Luckily he is a very approachable person and his office hours are flexible. Also, he is very happy to work with you on an essay and really wants each student to succeed in his class.

Professor Torres is truly an excellent professor. He is very accommodating, and has a clear passion for the material he is teaching. The experiences that he brought forth during discussion were always enlightening, and I enjoyed the group work projects he assigned, such as the ones in which we had to come up with our own solutions to a health related problem. Would definitely recommend taking this course!

Prof. Torres definitely is passionate about Global Health and teaching to a wide array of students. Lots of reading that isn't really necessary to complete. Valuable subject matter but class time can fall a little flat.
