David Stoll
I really enjoyed this course. Having never taken an anthropology class before, I really enjoyed the varied nature of the content, both historical and modern. The content was also very interesting, and my favorite part of the class was the discussions it generated.
David Stoll was the reason I took this class... and it didn't disappoint. This was much more different and difficult compared to the Cultural Anthropology class he teaches. In ANTH0241, you definitely have to use more of your own noggin in tackling the concepts, questions, and readings that are dished out. This class is what you make of it. Do the readings, participate in the discussions, learn to synthesize your own ideas. Stoll told us explicitly that the point of the course is to make his students better writers. The end of the semester project is a research paper, in which you can decide the topic.

Great course, it explores everything conflict related from 50,000 years ago to January 6th. The first week starts of slow, but afterwards the reading pickups. It is a great course if you wish to understand others.
