Christian Keathley
Keathley knows what he is talking about, and he knows what makes a good film. The movies we watched in this class are unlike anything I have ever seen, and are easily among the best I have ever seen, so if you have the chance to even audit this course, take it. In class discussion is incredibly enriching and profoundly deepens one's understanding of what is watched in screenings, so they are not to be missed. The readings are disposable and not necessary to engage in discussion, but you will find them helpful for when you're writing papers. Because of this, the workload is approximately zero aside from one weekly screening and the three papers over the course of the term. Keathley is a profound facilitator of conversation and extremely personable—take his class.

Professor Keathley is without a doubt my favourite professor at Middlebury. If you ever have the chance to take a class with him, I would make sure to do so, as he is a quality teacher. He encourages a lot of free-flowing discussion in his classes, and if you enjoy participating a lot in discussing movies, this is the class for you.
Keithley is such a good professor. This was my first class with him, but by the end of the semester, he felt like someone I could trust and ask for advice. In most classes, we spend the majority of the time going through clips from our films and analyzing them but they always feel like conversations and no real pressure is ever applied. The assessments are 3 short writing assignments worth 25% of your grade and participation is also 25%. This format makes this class super laid back and he is even flexible with deadlines. Overall fantastic class.
