Carolyn Finney
I loved this course and highly recommend taking a class with Carolyn. I found this course very chill, fun and allowed me to channel creativity in unexpected ways. We got to meet a lot of incredible environmental scholars through the weekly guest lectures which was super cool. The readings are pretty interesting but you can get away without reading as well.
This class is super interesting and thought provoking, and I definitely took away a lot of new ideas and perspectives. Carolyn Finney is extremely passionate and dedicated to the concepts she teaches, and it shows. It can be hard to maintain focus since the class is just once a week for 2 hours and 45 min, but she usually brings in guest speakers in person or by zoom and has also shown a number of interesting documentaries. I would definitely reccommend!

This class was very unique, intersecting both black studies and environmental studies. All classes were very discussion based, and only had a few short readings each week. You also have a final project that is very open ending about your personal connection with nature + reflection on the course.
