Callie Kimball

Callie was an amazing professor, and she was incredibly helpful when answering any question that could've come up. I chose "endless writing" as a characteristic of this class only because it was a writing class. The final project for this class is only a culmination of everything you've worked on throughout the class. Unless you actively try to fail, you will do well in this class because you get weekly feedback and suggestions on your writing. If my schedule had allowed this semester, I would've joined her Advanced Playwriting class in a heartbeat.

I had a lot of fun in this class. The workload was super low (only two pages of dialogue- which in script format is nothing- a week). This meant I wasn’t stressing about writing a ton, so I could actually write about topics and characters I enjoyed. Her prompts were really good, but also you didn’t have to follow them. My favorite part of class though was workshopping our writing. I was initially terrified to have my work read aloud, but it was always super low stress and supportive and everyone seemed engaged and gave super helpful feedback. I also loved seeing my classmates’ work, and the vast variety of topics and styles they covered. She was a super easy grader, almost entirely completion based. I will say though, her feedback was often so positive that I wished she would’ve been more harsh on work that I submitted knowing it sucked. Whether you need an easy-A CW or have an interest in theater/creative writing, this is a great pick.
