Bill Peterson
This class was enjoyable to take with Bill Peterson. He clarified concepts that I would have otherwise found confusing, and the questions on the test were all about things that we learned in class (no curveballs). It is very important to attend the lectures (or go to office hours if you can't), because without them it would have been easy to get confused and lost.
This was a fairly difficult course, but professor Peterson was highly motivated and passionate about the material. He was accommodating to extenuating circumstances, and a clear teacher. The course moved fairly fast after the first unit.
First of all, Bill Peterson is great. He's just such a funny man with such an enthusiasm for math. I do enjoy every time I speak to him. As for the class itself, it is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, but it certainly is not an easy class. There is homework due before every class, and the material covered is often not something that you can just speed through. If you do just sit down and read the assigned chapters, though, as you will be told to do at the beginning of the semester, the class is generally fine. Anything you don't understand past that, you can just go ask him about and he will be happy to help you. He is, in my experience, rather receptive to meeting outside of his office hours (which didn't work for me). The exams do push you on what you know, but if you do truly know it, you will mostly be fine. Altogether, it is 100% a class I would recommend taking with Bill Peterson.
