Andrea Vaccari
The class Embedded Systems provides a practical and in-depth introduction to the design and programming of hardware-integrated software. It combines theoretical concepts with hands-on projects, allowing students to gain real experience working with microcontrollers, sensors, and low-level programming. One of the highlights of the course is its focus on problem-solving. Students are encouraged to think critically when debugging code and designing systems, which helps build strong technical skills. The labs are particularly valuable, as they give insight into how embedded systems function in real-world applications. The instructor explains complex topics clearly and is supportive when students encounter challenges.

Embedded systems is a must take! Vaccari is the goat and pretty understanding of students. There is weekly homework and a weekly lab that can get very hard, but it is very fun. Halfway through, you start on a project to create any embedded system you want.
Course is heavily based on heavy projects that would take at least 10 hrs min for each work and then Mid 1, 2 and final. Class is heavily focused on gradings rather than having a strong discussion and presentation based class. But if you are able to do the work on time and be consistent all through the semester. You should be good to take it. Regardless, whatever grade or exams you give. Don't let anything dictate your passion, your dream and work ethic. Heads up and keep going regardless.
