Alexander Draper

I loved this course so much. Alex Draper's an incredible professor who obviously cares and has passion for acting. Any day I had the class I would be excited to show up. We did these really interesting acting warmups. Our class had many different students and it was fun to be in. We had lots of fun scene work like monologues, scenes with partners or groups and more. We also discussed parts of the class and did some light readings.

One of my favorite classes I've taken at Middlebury. There are some readings but generally skimming or reading online summaries is good enough. I enjoyed this class so much and it was a contributing factor to my decision to become a theater major. You are supposed to keep a weekly journal but it was only checked twice a semester and you could still get a pretty good grade with very little entries. You do have to go into it with an open mind and a willingness to do things that seem silly, embarrassing, etc. . You really get what you put into it. The class was a mixed group of people with lots of acting experience and people who have never been involved in any live performance environment before. Generally a really good experience.

I loved this class. It is one of the more enjoyable and relaxing classes that I have taken at Middlebury. you are graded on a few short performances in which he is very understanding of the fact that it is most people's first times acting. If you really immerse yourself in this class and don't take yourself too seriously you WILL have fun. Readings are somewhat required but usually reading one part or skimming can get you all the info you're going to need.
