Alex Lyford
Alex is a fantastic professor. He is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and makes class interesting by giving relevant "mini-projects" in class. One drawback of this class was that it met once a week for three hours, which I thought was difficult for a coding class where syntax repetition is important for learning. Alex is helpful and available during office hours, which greatly impacted my understanding of the material. The information was very valuable for anyone interested in data science or machine learning.

This is a really great course and I definitely suggest taking it at some point if you are majoring in Statistics. Alex is a great professor and teaches the class very well. The material is super interesting and relates a lot to "real-world" issues, using real data sets. There are a few homework assignments and exams sprinkled throughout the semester which definitely take some time, but many weeks do not have any work outside of class.

Stat 201 is a great class to take. Learning how to code in R is such a useful skill. I would say that after this course, you will probably be pretty sufficient utilizing R for making graphs and doing statistical tests. I took this class for fun and after I decided to major in stats. Alex is a great teacher and really cares about his students!
